Ryoanji Temple, Kyoto, Kansai

Ryoanji is a famous Zen temple in Kyoto for its Rock Garden. The garden has no trees, no flowers, no paths, no creeks, no ponds…. All it has are waves of white pebbles and small 15 rocks on mossy soils. It looks like a miniature 15 islands in ocean, but no one has ever taught anyone what it is. It is what you see in yourself when you are in front of the garden.

Unlike the Rock Garden which is adjacent to small living rooms of monks, the temple itself is in a huge strolling garden with a central pond. There are thousands of trees with beautiful green leaves now in October but only in a month they will be turning into orange and red colors that creates a totally different view and attract many more sightseers and tourists.
