Fushimi, Kyoto, Kansai

Fushimi is now a ward of Kyoto City but it used to be another city adjacent to the old Capital. It had been developed as a port town with easy access from both Kyoto and Osaka. Fushimi Castle was the residence of a famous Samurai Lord who unified Japan and where he spent the rest of life.

Fushimi also has a source of good subsoil water that is why the city is famous for its Sake brewing. There is a well-established brewery where you can enjoy Sake tasting after visiting the museum.

The most famous sightseeing spot in Fushimi would be “Fushimi Inari Taisha”. That is home of thousands of Inari shrines throughout Japan, which have the benefit of business prosperity and the safety of family. What makes the shrine famous especially for overseas tourists is “Senbon Torii”. It means a thousand Torii, red-color shrine gates, but there are actually more than 10,000 throughout the whole premises of the shrine including a small mountain at the back. You will get a luck if you make a wish while passing the gates, so why don’t you go up the mountain passing all the gates if you are a good hiker?

Anyone can devote a Torii so the number is still increasing.
