


400 – 500 years ago, there used to be more than 20,000 castles throughout Japan, of which only 235 are registered as remaining castles now, of which only 12 has tall buildings called “Tenshu” in its original shape, of which only 5 are designated as national treasure.
Matsumoto Castle is one of the national treasures because of its beautiful shape and long time preservation. It’s in Nagano Prefecture which is famous for a number of scenic mountainous landscapes.
