Kawaguchiko Momiji Kairo, Yamanashi, Chubu

Kawaguchiko Momiji Kairo is a famous autumn foliage viewing spot located near Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi Prefecture. This picturesque area is particularly popular during the autumn season when the maple leaves turn vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow.

It features a path lined with maple trees that stretch along a small stream, creating a tunnel-like effect of colorful leaves overhead. Visitors can walk along the pathway, enjoy the serene atmosphere and take in the stunning view of Mt. Fuji on clear days.

Access to the entrance area of the adjacent art museum would also bring you a moment to soak in the combination of a small waterfall to a pond and maple trees.

Like the cherry blossom season in spring the period that you can enjoy the maple leaves depends on the climate each year, but it is comparatively longer than cherry blossoms. So if you are in Tokyo area in the right time, Kawaguchiko Momiji Kairo would be a must-visit destination to capture the essence of Japan’s autumn. It’s less than two hours from Tokyo.
